A Summer of Camp Miracles

Boys Town Jerusalem’s 2025 Summer Camp was one of the most memorable seasons ever. Yet, the very fact that it opened was a near miracle.

A summer against all odds

“The Iran-Israel War broke out suddenly during the last week of school and ended several days after our camp was scheduled to begin,” notes BTJ CEO Yoni Strimber. “Amazingly, we were able to open the camp the day after the war ended. At that time, many of our boys were still visibly shaken by the war’s attacks and tensions.

Watching them begin to relax and enjoy swimming, camping, field trips, water parks, sports, and other great camp activities was extraordinary. We are grateful to donors worldwide who generously subsidized Boys Town Jerusalem’s top-level Summer Camp to offer fun and healing to boys in need.”

Summer camp provides healing and support

In response to the war’s trauma, BTJ’s 2025 Summer Camp opened to a record number of boys from grades 7 through 10.  “So many of our boys have fathers, siblings, relatives and friends serving in combat,” explains BTJ Junior High Principal Rabbi Yehudah Rosencrantz. “Their families are facing worsening economic conditions, with an overwhelming emotional toll. Parents pleaded with us to accept their sons into our highly subsidized camp. We did everything we could to make that happen.”

More than just fun

Alongside recreational activities, the school also offered vital summer courses and private tutoring to strengthen students’ academic skills. “These lessons are incredibly valuable—not only in boosting knowledge but also in building self-confidence,” Rabbi Rosencrantz stressed. “BTJ’s 2025 Summer Camp became a source of joy and renewal for boys who have gone through two difficult years of war and uncertainty. The laughter, learning, and healing they experienced were precious gifts made possible by the generosity of BTJ’s supporters.”
