Ron’s Path to Healing

When sixteen-year-old “Ron” lost his father several months ago, he lost the flame of hope he’d carried over the hard years his father fought to live. Today, Ron has begun his fight to rebuild his own life. Fortunately, this Boys Town Jerusalem student is surrounded by love.

Ron helped his family throughout his father’s illness

“Ron’s teachers, rabbis, dormitory counsellors, and other BTJ staff have stood at his side throughout his father’s long illness,” notes BTJ social worker Hadas Knopf. “Ron tried so hard to help his mother, often looking after his younger siblings while she stayed in the hospital. His father’s death is a tragedy for us all.

BTJ supporters ensure Ron doesn’t fall behind

Thankfully, generous Boys Town Jerusalem donors across the globe are providing critically needed support, Hadas reports. “Fully funding his BTJ dormitory accommodations gives Ron crucial structure, extracurricular activities, and the constant care of staff. Dorm father Rabbi Netanel Raanan often brings Ron home for meals with his own family. Giving him full access to our gym has boosted Ron’s physical and mental health, along with such extracurricular activities as school trips, bowling, and other special treats that donors provide.”

Ron is also receiving tutoring and therapy

To help him catch up academically, Ron is now being regularly tutored, the social worker adds. In addition to ongoing psychotherapy, Boys Town Jerusalem is providing Ron with sorely needed new clothes and the three wholesome freshly cooked meals all students enjoy each school day.

“Ron is a remarkable young man who now desperately needs our continued support,” Hadas shares. “Thanks to Boys Town Jerusalem and our dedicated donors, he is not facing this journey alone.”
