New “Bervin Buddies” Recreational Center

Thanks to the generosity, love, and a son’s tribute to his late parents, Boys Town Jerusalem Junior High students are now enjoying a dream-come-true, spacious, well-equipped haven during their intensive school day. The newly opened “Bervin Buddies Recreational Center,” in memory of Berdie and Irvin Cohen Z’L of Winnipeg, Canada, features comfortable sofas and tables, a ping-pong table, video screen, and much more, giving students an ideal place to relax.

The Recreation Center is a refuge for students

“The new Bervin Buddies Recreational Center is an enormous boon to our students,” declares BTJ Junior High Principal Rabbi Yehudah Rosencrantz. “This refuge from the pressures of their studies – and from the stress of their family life – gives boys a priceless opportunity for a short, relaxing, healing break during the school day.”

The Center is also used for Robotics teams

The Bervin Buddies Center also serves as an oasis for BTJ’s prizewinning Robotics teams. Amichai Romain, an eighth-grade FLL Robotics team member, enthusiastically declares, “This Recreational Center is the greatest place for us to enjoy rest, fun, and friends!

The Recreational Center provides opportunity

As the anonymous donor shared, “I hope the boys discover their abilities and seize the opportunity to realize their capabilities.  I hope they pretend they can do anything, dream of what they want to achieve, and set about making it a reality, because it is possible!

“These boys need our help and so does Israel. Donating to Boys Town Jerusalem is an opportunity to do both.”
