BOYS TOWN JERUSALEM ANNUAL REPORT 2018-19
Dear Boys Town Jerusalem Family,
We are pleased to present you with the 2018-19 BTJ Annual Report, which highlights the successes, challenges and new opportunities for our students, faculty and staff this year. Each year our development staff knows that one of the most important things is to start the year strong, and that includes ensuring, together with our donors, that funding is available for every boy who needs a scholarship to attend Boys Town Jerusalem.
Since 1948, thanks to donors like you, Boys Town has provided the education and support necessary for boys coming from some of the most disadvantaged backgrounds to transform into young adults with limitless futures. Our 7,500+ graduates include business entrepreneurs, major generals in the IDF and many in the hi-tech world. As Hillel says in Pirkei Avot, “If I am not for myself, who is for me? And if I am only for myself, what am I? And if not now, when?” Many of our boys, when they come to Boys Town, do not have the confidence they need to stand up for themselves and for their future. They lack the support at home to understand that they can not only succeed on their own merits, but have the ability to give back to their community. And if not now, when?
We, at Boys Town, receive these boys at a crucial time for their personal, social, emotional and educational development. It is thanks to donors like you that we are able to provide them with a full support system during their time of greatest need. Thanks to your generosity, our boys have soared this year – earning top achievements in robotics, networking, cyber security and a soccer championship – to push Boys Town Jerusalem to even higher standards.
The following pages tell the story of BTJ throughout the 2018-19 year. We look forward to working with you in our continued work of educating the future leaders of Israeli society.
