The Hidden Impact of October 7
As he fought bravely to save lives during the brutal warfare of October 7, 2023, “Noah’s” father miraculously survived. Yet the severe post-trauma he suffered has caused him to lose every job he manages to get. The family now faces mounting financial hardship – and tragically, 14-year-old Noah is bearing the consequences.
Support That Goes Beyond the Classroom
“Although he’s very bright and eager to excel, Noah is plagued by fears,” explains Boys Town Jerusalem social worker Hadas Knopf. “As he struggles to keep up with his studies, we are working intensively to strengthen his confidence and sense of security. Thankfully, generous donors are enabling our school to give Noah decisive emotional care as well as intensive tutoring to help him succeed.”
Helping Noah Find His Own Path
Hadas keeps Noah’s main teachers closely informed of his situation, actively involving them in the ongoing efforts to support him. At the same time, she remains in constant contact with Noah’s mother, who is deeply anxious about her son’s stability and future. “Noah’s mom is terrified that he may join the neighborhood gang of delinquents. Noah, however, is hurt that his friends mock him for refusing to join their all-night drinking and vandalism.”
Giving Families Hope for the Future
Working closely with Noah, Hadas is committed to nurturing his motivation to excel – and to empower him to become a positive influence on his peers. At the same time, she is making determined efforts to give his mother the calm confidence to trust her son’s ability to act responsibly. “To their lifesaving advantage, Noah and his mother can receive the significant care, support, and guidance of Boys Town Jerusalem’s professional, compassionate staff. Donors are making these critical interventions possible, giving this family the priceless gifts of hope and a brighter, more confident future.”
